This is very cute and very bright. My son is afraid of the dark as most kids are. The open top shines up on the ceiling and lights up the whole room. He has no more problems with getting to sleep. It comes with a bulb, which is similar to a candalabra bulb (sold at any store). It has a easy on off switch on the cord and the lamp itself does not get hot.
