i've had my unit using on and off, and it works just fine, haven't even cleaned it yet. I notice I get more rest when it's running past couple days after starting to use it again for the cold season.

It could stand to be quiter.

Didn't last long

I've used this humidifier in my daugther's room about 15 times and it has suddenly stopped working. It is extremely hard to clean. There's only a 2 inch diameter hole for the water container- so you'd have to use a bottle brush to get in there. The heating coil is hard to clean as well. I tried soaking in vinegar and using a toothbrush and it was impossible to reach the top part of the coil to clean. Then there are 2 dishes "water resevoirs" at the bottom that have to be clean out too. After this one died so quickly- I went and bought the $12 Vicks humidifier and I'm extremely pleased with that one.

unhappy with my dry air

I purchased this item and have been using it for a couple weeks now in different rooms at different times of the day to try to get it to function as a humidifier. The water level drops indicating that the water is being released into the air but still the air still feels dry and we are waking up with dry noses and throats! On a better note this item creates no moisture, as it says in the book "Its invisible moisture" so no worries of your stuff getting wet or walls and windows being damp no problem in this department the prodcut design for keepign the water in is great. It is however very noisey!!!! Definately not eardrum friendly or something for a kids room, even on its low setting its loud and can keep you awake. The filter is very big but easy to wet and the water tank is a nice size and easy to fill in the kitchen sink. I am dissapointed that there has been no change in quality of the air for us and that this product is very noisey. I wouldnt recommend it but maybe my air is just very dry , I have ran this device for 4 hours straigth and not once did it shut off like it should once the moisture level is attained. The directions tell you to run it on high until you achieve desired moisture level and then switch to low setting so it can stop and then resume if moisture in the air becomes dry but we did not see this thing stop unless we turned it off ourselves. Anyways I hope this information helps and maybe this item will work well for someone else!
