extremely pleased

The cat knocked over my iron AGAIN and broke it so I went on an online search for a new one. I had to find a good one but within my budget.I chose to try this one because: It was within my budget, had a wide bottom so it wouldn't tip so easily, auto shut off because I am always forgetting that.
So I must say I am very pleased. It glides easily, easy to fill, and clean. It has never tipped over, even when the cat jumped on the ironing board, the cord moves nicely so I never have to fight with it, steam is good although I don't use it much. Glides like silk over everything.
Being a quilter I use my iron a lot. The only very very slight annoyance I have is it shuts off too quickly when I am fusing, but a quick flip of the wrist and it is right back on.
All in all this is the very best iron I have ever owned and I would recommend it to anyone.

Very good iron for the price

I bought this iron because I am French and had a similar one back in France. It's great for the price. I never had a problem. It glides so well. It's lightweight and can be easily stored vertically. You can fill it up easily too.

Wimpy iron that leaks everywhere.

Reviewer:  G. West  (San Diego, CA)  See all my reviews

Real Name

Pros
- soleplate not tradition chromed metal (apparently scratch resistant)
- easy to fill
- easy to store
- plenty of steam
- lightweight

CONS
- irons out wrinkles just ok
- LEAKS!!! Box says "soleplate heats fast to prevent dripping". I ironed two shirts and there were water stains left all over the place. Plus, I think the water marks actually stained the shirt. I hope dry cleaning will get that out.

Returned immediately to store for refund. Really disappointed. Design and features are cool, but they don't do me any good when the iron leaks all over my clothes. Previous experiences with T-Fal irons have been great.

Awesome iron

I've used many irons over the past few years but this one is in a league of its own. Not to mention it's great price. I iron clothes daily and I also like to quilt. This iron allows the cord to stay out of my way and glides easily over my fabric. I've never had a iron that "glides" over fabric like this one.

Decent Iron

**Having to return product**
I bought the above iron last night and immeadiatly started to use it as soon as I got home. The Ultraglide is exactly what the box describes it as and I especially loved the cover for the water resevior.

HOWEVER...

I am having to return the iron because after about an hour, it started dripping, not from the plate, but from the seam in the handle, just at the tip, between the to base wings. At first I thought I just spilled but it kept leaking and got progressively worse. I dont know if this is a typical problem with this iron, (I read another review on a differnt site that stated the other user had issues with leaking but she did not specify from where)or if my iron is just a defective product. Its possible that its just a cracked resevior and would be easy to just replace it in the store. This is a good iron for the price, but my review is a warning that if you iron starts to leak, check where it is coming from. This could be more than a one time incident.

Also, a side note: The little slide for selecting the steam levels looks very easy to break, and the base is really not as sturdy as I would have hoped. Just FYI.

Incidently, I went out and replaced the T-Fal with a Rowenta Effective iron that was on sale at another store. I have to say, there are a few features with the T-Fal that I really liked (the resevior cover, the big, blue steam and spray buttons, the cord design) but I am VERY impressed with my new Rowenta. It glides just as well and it actually seems to do a better job with linens, my personal bain, since I can never seem to get them to iron out all of the rinkles completely.
