My husband and I have gone through numerous blenders just trying to find one that will crush ice!! But this thing is great! I dont even have to turn it up to full speed! You'll never need another one...ever!

We purchased the Kitchenaid KSB540wh Blender in April, 2007 after burning up numerous blenders making our daily frozen smoothies. The pitcher's large capacity allows us to make 4 smoothies at once. The drain holes built into the base keeps it from holding water in the dishwasher. The blades are placed in the perfect positions eliminating any free floating frozen globs. The frozen fruit and crushed ice in every smoothie have never been a problem. Considering it's .9hp motor, it's more quiet than most.
We're so impressed, we are giving one to my sister for Christmas.

I was tricked into getting this blender because it was kitchenaid and costly. I thought it would be a great blender. It is not. It does not even chop up the ice. big disappointment and waste of $$$.

I intended to get the 5 speed after reading reviews, but this was the only one available in the store. I noticed it had the same motor (0.9hp) and assumed it would make smoothies as well as the 5 speed. My old blender (Osterizer) was ok but left lots of ice chunks, this blender does not. I just bought it today and have made 2 smoothies so far, not one chunk of ice. The seeds from the frozen fruit we far larger than any piece of ice. After making the perfect smoothies, I was actually happy that I didn't spend the extra 30 dollars on the 5 speed. This is a very powerful blender.
