Good Crib, Good Price

Reviewer:  MN Mom  (Vadnais Heights, MN)  See all my reviews

We really liked the basic style of this crib in the natural oak. It did take two of us to put it together (I could stand and hold while pregnant, my husband did the assembly). I couldn't have done it alone. My only complaint about this crib is that I had it shipped twice and it was damaged both times in shipping. We decided that the second one was good enough. I don't have any issues with the side rail - works well for me and I guess the motion I use to raise it lets me know that it is locked. It isn't a super heavy duty piece of furniture, but I like how easily it moves. On durability, my son is now 18 months and able to give it quite a bit of shake when he wants to get out in the morning. It is able to take that licking and still works well. We have been very satisfied with the performance of the crib.

Good, basic crib

Reviewer:  Excited parents  (Evanston, IL)  See all my reviews

The headboard had a giant crack in it when it arrived from Target. Bassett sent a replacement at no cost (and it was packed much more securely with more padding - makes you wonder why Target doesn't pack it the same way...) I had no problems at all dealing with the manufacturer. Assembly was not crystal clear from the instructions and definitely required 2 people. I would prefer it if the side rail that lowers/raises would "click" when it is securely in place. There's no click, so I find myself double and triple checking that it's in the groove. Overall the crib is sturdy and nice looking.

Great Crib

This is a well made crib. It looks like a great piece of furnniture. We assembled it when I was 6 months pregnant, no problems. We are short people so we did not put the casters on.

beautiful crib

Reviewer:  Jasmine's mommy  (kentucky, usa)  See all my reviews

My husband and I love this crib. The only complaint is that the drop side can be a bit tricky at first. But it is very secure when it is locked. It is not bad for the price. If you order this crib online though the shipping is a little high. The crib was very easy to put together and comes with casters so you can roll it. I plan on buying the matching dressers as well!

Not bad for the price.

Given the price point, I think this is a great crib. I thought it was fairly easy to put together (I did it when 8 months pregnant) and works just fine. No complaints yet!

This crib is junk!

Reviewer:  Heather E. Peterson "turtlemom"  (turtlemom)  See all my reviews

The side that is supposed to go down with one knee did not go down with two and required banging on both sides to lower it, and if you were lucky and banged them at the same time it would lower. I called Basset and was required to lay on my back while 7 monthes pregnant to take pictures to prove we had assembled it correctly. Seeing that we had, we were sent a new side. Now the crib rail comes off the track every other day on both the right and left sides. This requires me to wake my sleeping daughter and fix it from fear that she will fall out. Do not buy this crib. I am calling Basset next, but I fear that the only thing they can do is send me a new crib.

Love this crib

Reviewer:  Nicole  (Wales, MA)  See all my reviews

I was really pleased with it. Love everything about it. The knee-drop down side is great when the baby is sleeping in your arms and you (me) are too short to lift the baby over the rails. It wasn't that hard to put together either about 1 hour. I would recommend this crib to everyone.

Tricky instructions but great looking crib

Reviewer:  Bridget  (Long Island, NY)  See all my reviews

After reading many of the reviews here, my husband and I went to our local store and were lucky enough to find the crib and tall dresser in stock - and on sale at the closeout price. My husband put the crib together with a little bit of guesswork on his part and some input from me based on the way I had seen cribs assembled on display. I don't understand one of the reviews complaining about a problem with the headboard/footboard. There is no difference in the two sides. Another review complained about a difficult release mechanism. This crib has the standard knee release that most new cribs now come with. HOWEVER, it is very easy to install the knee drop release railing backwards (it snaps in easily and appears correct but will not work properly this way). After some head scratching, we figured out that it was in backwards, turned it around, and it works perfectly. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this crib. The matching 5-drawer dresser also looks very nice.

Great product, Bad Instructions

Reviewer:  Shel "Michelle"  (Iowa)  See all my reviews

The crib, once we got it together, is very nice and quite sturdy. It was also a great value as we got it on sale. The only downside to this product are the instructions or the lack of them. It took my engineer husband an hour and a half to put the crib together based on the instructions that came with the product. If you're not an engineer or a rocket scientist, make sure to leave plenty of time to figure out how to put this crib together. Otheriwse, it's a great product.

Great Crib

Reviewer:  Mom of 2  (Farmington, CT)  See all my reviews

My husband and I are very pleased overall with the Bassettbaby Natural Mission crib. It took us less than an hour to put it together. It looks fabulous and seems very sturdy (solid wood construction). However, there are two minor reasons why we couldn't give this 5 stars. The first is that one of the holes for a non-essential screw was too big. This was easily fixed by simply buying an appropriate sized nut from a hardware store (the hardware store I went to had a spare and gave it to me for free) and placing it at the end of the screw so it stayed secured through its corresponding hole. The second reason this crib doesn't get the highest rating is that 3 of the 4 casters did not fit snugly in their holes. Once again I attribute it to the fact that the holes made were just a bit too big for the metal insert. We like the crib better w/o the casters and feel it's more secure with just the solid wood grounding it, so we didn't attempt to fix this problem. On the whole, we really love this crib and would buy it again in a flash. It's beautiful, meets ASTM and JPMACP standards, and is reasonably priced. We definitely recommend this crib.
