We needed the extra space, so we purchased the mini-crib. It does fit a standard mini-crib mattress or portable crib mattress. Anyone who would think a mini-crib would fit a regular crib mattress, doesn't get the point of a MINI crib - hello the dimensions are smaller! We modified standard crib bedding because the selection for mini-crib bedding (while its getting better) doesn't offer many cute options. Also the top rails are fat/large and don't fit many of the mobiles and crib toys, but we've managed to rig it and are still safe.

This crib was going to be perfect to fit in my small living quarters. However, since it is considered a "mini crib", I wanted to know how "mini" it was. Especially since in the description it says that a standard size crib mattress will fit. I called Target.com who in turned assured me that the standard size mattress would fit. I went ahead and ordered the crib and a standard size crib mattress. Well, after 4 hours of assembly, the crib was together. The mattress came, and it was way too big. The standard size mattress would not fit as told by Target. I had to go through several hoops just to get this crib returned. Now, I need to buy a larger one (I already have the bedding and mattress for a standard size). I was put through a lot of inconvenience with this. If you want a crib/play-yard, this is perfect for you. But, not as a regular crib.
