So glad I got it

I found the baby's heartbeat within the first minute of using this product. I've never not been able to find it within two minutes every day since I got it. This thing is awesome.

Follow the Directions People.....This Gadget Really Works!

Reviewer:  Cali Mama  (Rancho Cucamonga, CA, USA)  See all my reviews

My husband and I purchased this product during my 19th week of pregnancy. Despite the fact that both the product packaging and the enclosed instruction manual stated that the product is best used in the 3rd trimester- we went ahead and used it right away (at 19 weeks). Even this early in my pregnancy I was able to hear the baby's movements! I really cannot stress enough, the importance of following the exact directions! This product works the best when you are in a quiet area, in a relaxed state, and by beginning each session on the lowest volume setting, then gradually increasing the volume. My husband and I have never needed to increase the volume over the 3rd setting, in order to hear the baby. So, to all of those who gave this product a low rating, "Follow the Directions People... This Gadget Really Works"!

when i opened it i was disappointed to find that they recommended you wait until your third trimester, however at around 21 weeks i began to hear the heart beat. i made sure i was in a very quiet rm and did not use my hands beause it did cause extra noise.

Awesome!! (if used correctly)

Reviewer:  Soon to be Mom  See all my reviews

This product was recommended to me by a coworker but I almost didn't purchase it based on all the negative reviews; I am so glad I gave it a try!!

From 22 weeks on this product has worked wonderfully (I use it every night). The trick is DON'T hold the listener with your hand; it causes too much interference. I found that if I use the elastic band or drawstring on my pants (or some device/contraption like a Bella Band) to hold in place, I can always find the heartbeat. Additionally, the pressure of whatever is holding it in place seems to trigger the baby to kick and move more that usual which is so neat to hear while your seeing and feeling it!

Keep in mind sometimes it requires a little patience to locate the heartbeat. If I don't hear the heartbeat within two minutes in a speific spot I just move it to another spot; I've never once been dissapointed yet!

Great product; would recommend!

Waste of money

Reviewer:  Almost there  (Columbia, MD)  See all my reviews

Like most everyone else, we bought this, hoping to hear our little one's heart somewhere in the middle of my second trimester. When we got it home, we opened it and read the instructions which were INSIDE the package, only to find out that you aren't to use this product until your third trimester. No problem, we patiently waited until my third trimester but still nothing. It wasn't until about week 36 that we were able to hear anything. I am now 38 weeks pregnant and it is still difficult to hear. I didn't expect the quality at the doctor's office by any means but this product was a waste of money. When you do use it, you have to figure out how to have the volume up loud enough to hear anything, yet be perfectly still so you don't deafen yourself when you breath and bump the stupid thing.

Stick to the professionals

This product is horrible. I bought it on clearance [...] and I'm still [mad] ha ha
Please reconsider buying this product and dont worry because you will have plenty of times to hear your baby's heart beat at the docs office!

It works, but don't waste your money

Reviewer:  Dominic's Mommy  See all my reviews

My mother got this for us so we could hear our little boy's heartbeat whenever we wanted, not only when we went to visit the doctor. Even in the second trimester, I could could hear him, but very rarely. My advice: check your own pulse, if it matches what you hear, it's your own heartbeat, which is what you'll usually find; it's very difficult to pick up the baby's. Yes, it's cool when you can listen to your unborn child, but you'll be happier in the long run spending your money on supplies for post-birth.

Works just fine - unless you're clueless!

Reviewer:  Cool Geek Toy  See all my reviews

ok folks, I used this product and it works just fine, as long as you actually follow the instructions and don't expect to get the same sound quality you get in the doctor's office, who is a trained professional using thousands of dollars of equipment. Be reasonable!

It does take a little patience to find the heartbeat, but once you do it is VERY exciting to hear the heart of your wonderful new baby. On the other hand, if you're a nervous and impatient person who expects to just blindly stick it against your stomach and hear ka-thumpa-THUMPA, this product is not for you!

I'm astonished at those who claim they know what they're doing just because they're an OB nurse... this is NOT a doppler! How can you expect the same results as you get in the office!

I really like the fact that unlike doppler, it does NOT use ultrasound or RF, so it's completely safe to use and experiment with as much as you like. It's a really cool geeky gadget.

Great if you follow the directions

Reviewer:  New Mom in MD  (Maryland)  See all my reviews

I read the directions throughly, and I was able to hear the kicks and the movements in my 2nd trimester, I was even able to hear the heartbeat the one time my little man decided to be calm. I think This is a great product as long as you follow the instructions carefully and read the entire booklet.

yes the directions say wait till 3rd trimester, but......

Reviewer:  Duped Mom "Casey B"  (CA)  See all my reviews

Yes the directions say wait until the 3rd trimester AFTER you open the packaging but even after that it still does not work. I took this to the doctor with me hoping he could show some trick of the trade but even he said it was a piece of you know what. He said that expecting parents are so prone to these scams especially first timers. I wrote to the company and their response was I just wasn't using it right and there was nothing they would do about it. I would not recommend this to someone I disliked much less to a friend or family member and I feel bad for everyone like me who were excited at the prospect of hearing their babies every night and ended up diappointed or scared because they could not hear anything at all
