Reception and sound are good.
The BAD includes:
- a not very attractive blue display,
- weak stations bounce between HD and regular (annoying),
- clock isn't as accurate as other displays right next to it,
- no way to just turn off display when unit isn't operating.
However, for the price I'd buy it again but with XM/Sirius capability. Was this review helpful?

There were several reasons why I chose this tuner. First, I read several on-line reviews that favorably compared this tuner to ones that were selling for more than ten times as much. Second, I wanted to add HD capability to my aging discrete, component stereo system. Third, my old Yamaha T-80 tuner, which I had owned for a long time, finally quit working. Buy.com's selling price for this sophisticated tuner with HD was less than what I paid for my Yamaha analog tuner some two decades ago. The first thing I noticed, upon connecting this tuner to my stereo system and firing it up, is that it is considerably quieter, more sensitive and selective than my previous tuner. The analog signals sounded much better than I expected. Initially I couldn’t get the HD to work with one my favorite nearby FM stations. Ultimately I found that re-orienting the indoor dipole antenna that came with the tuner, while monitoring the tuner’s signal strength indicator, made a dramatic difference. Once I had a solid, steady signal, the HD began working perfectly. The tuner is obviously sophisticated, but it’s so simple to use that its palm-sized owner’s manual needs only 18 pages. The remote control that comes with this tuner is the same size and about four times as thick as a credit card, so it would be easy to lose, but it works just fine. If you don’t have strong steady FM signals nearby, you will probably need a good directional antenna to enjoy the benefits of HD. In my opinion, this tuner looks good, performs exceedingly well and represents an amazing value. Was this review helpful?
