For centuries, fishermen have noted that the lunar cycle, weather, and pressure conditions can have a profound effect on the feeding habits of fish. Details of record fishing catches and fishing tournaments have noted distinct patterns in these factors. All of the environmental conditions affecting fish behaviors have been combined here in a single algorithm used to determine optimal activity times. This compilation of years of research has resulted in the software contained in the Mariner's Edge.
This compact, handheld instrument can provide a variety of information, including: tidal activity forecasts for over 500 U.S. locations, tide heights and times, time, date, present fish feeding reports, weather forecasts, barometric pressure, sunrise and sunset times, moon phase and position, and even a severe weather alert. The top and right side of the backlit display are reserved for information detailing predicted patterns of fish feeding activity based on air pressure, temperature, and the sun and moon cycles. The meter to the far right shows the current level of feeding activity based on a scale of one to ten, while the graph at the top shows predicted activity for the next four hours of operation. The top section can also be configured to display a 16 hour barometric histograph or a 24 hour line graph depicting upcoming tidal changes. The center display shows visual depictions of current weather conditions, moon phases, and the relative positions of the lunar and solar bodies on a handy chart. The weather readout shows pictographs to indicate the current conditions and also has a severe weather alarm that will alert the user even when the unit is switched off. When used in the future mode this display will also predict future weather patterns based on current readouts, up to 24 hours in advance. The bottom section may be changed with the mode keys to show the current time, date, sunrise or sunset times, barometric pressure, or tidal information. The tidal information is accurately calibrated for over 500 U.S. port locations until the year 2099. Easy to read indicators are also provided to indicate the included key-lock safety feature being activated and a low battery warning. This product runs on two CR2032 button cell batteries, which are included along with a miniature Phillips head screwdriver for easy access. A soft sided carrying case with belt loops is also provided for protection on the go. Additionally, a belt clip and wall mounting bracket are included.
