From weather to time, this unit offers everything you need to predict what the day will bring. The top line of the display has the time, according to the atomic clock in Boulder, Colorado. An antenna inside the unit receives a signal from WWVB, the radio station in Fort Collins, Colorado, which broadcasts the atomic time, for the most accurate timekeeping possible. The time can be set to your time zone, and can be shown in your choice of twelve or twenty-four hour format. The Daylight Savings Time function is currently on, but can be turned off if your area does not use it. The clock may also be set manually if desired. The date follows the time, also received from the WWVB. The center section of the screen features a forecast icon, which can be sunny, partly sunny, or rainy. A sunny icon indicates the weather is expected to improve, based on rising air pressure. This is often accompanied by an arrow pointing upward, indicating the rising air pressure. The partly sunny icon notes that the weather and barometric pressure are expected to remain static for the next twelve to twenty four hours. The weather is expected to worsen if the rainy icon is showing. A downward arrow usually appears on the screen with this icon, showing that the air pressure is falling. The next line has the indoor temperature and humidity in your choice of Fahrenheit or Celsius. If the temperature is between 68° and 79° Fahrenheit, and the humidity indoors is between 45% and 65%, a smiling face icon will appear on this line of the display. This icon notes that it is comfortable indoors. A sad face icon appears when the values are outside of the aforementioned range. The bottom line features the outdoor temperature in your choice of Fahrenheit or Celsius, received from an outdoor sensor placed up to 330 feet away. The sensor uses state-of-the-art wireless transmission technology, broadcasting the information in 915 megahertz frequency, for an update every four seconds. The station can receive the temperature from up to three sensors, and one is included to have a working item immediately. The station also records the minimum and maximum temperature both indoors and out, and the time and date of their occurrence. This information is available by pressing the buttons on the front of the console. The silver colored sides frame the black center of the main unit, for a modern and seamless look. Both the weather station and outdoor sensor use two AA batteries (not included) for power. Mount the outdoor sensor on a north facing wall, protected from rain and snow and out of direct sunlight for the most accurate temperature readings.
