The title of the product is misleading! I purchased this because I was looking for a hub where all the ports were 2.0 speed. However, if you read the fine print, ONLY ONE PORT at a time can use the full 2.0 speed. Spend an extra 10 bucks, and get a Belkin hub so you can have every port at usb 2.0 speeds. Unless you are connecting many 1.0 speed devices this product is NOT WORTH IT.

Like everyone else has said, it's quite good for its price. I had no connection problems except for with my one of my external HDs. My only real problem was the short cable - which eventually led to its demise...I have little room on my desk (because it's a mess), so it kept falling off the edge, and eventually pulled the cable loose. The design (placement of ports) is good though, and I would buy it again. I'll just be more careful this time.

Pros: Simple, no nonsense, cheap, and does its job.
Cons: The usb wire from the actual hub connecting to the computer is VERY short, not even 2 full feet...USB slots usually have a very smooth slide action when plugging drives and such in and out, this hub, unlike 99% of everything usb I have ever used, is extremely unsmooth and requires that annoying extra amount of force to get the device in there, not to mention that it just overall feels VERY flimsy, cheap, and breakable. There is a light, when connected to your computer, that turns on to show you that it is working, however, this light stays on even if and when your computer itself is off, this is not much of a problem to me even though I sleep in the same room I use this in, but it's a problem nonetheless.
Bottom Line: If you really need that extra $5 in your pocket, then buy this. If not, stay away from this and invest in something of better quality, it will benefit you in the long run.
What Are BUS POWERED USB Devices?
USB was designed to allow many peripherals to be connected using a standard
interface port, and to improve the plug-and-play features of PCs by allowing
these devices to be connected and disconnected without rebooting the
computer! Another convenient feature includes providing power (also known as
Bus Power) to low-consumption devices without the need for an external power
supply. So Bus Powered means the device is powered by the USB Port, and not
an external power adaptor.
Bus Powered devices offer a lot of flexibility, particularly when used on
laptops and other portable devices. However, you need to determine when “bus
power” is best.
When is Bus Power best?
You have a desktop with ample USB ports, or
You have a laptop and you need to take your
Bus Powered devices with you, or
You only use the device intermittently and
want the simplicity of no external power adaptors, or
You want to keep desktop clutter to a
minimum, and want to eliminate power cables.
The best example of a USB Bus Power devices
are: USB Thumb Drives, or Passport style USB Hard Drives.
Rules for best results with Bus Powered
Devices:
Use a good quality USB Cable two feet or
less in length.
Be sure to directly connect the device to
your computer, instead of through a hub or other device - unless the USB
Hub has its own power.
Make sure your laptop battery is fully
charged.
Generally speaking, you do not want many
Bus Power devices connected at once, especially on portable devices or
laptops running on batteries. So consider unplugging unneeded devices if
necessary.
Some devices can be powered both by an external adaptor or by Bus Power. As
a general rule, you should use the external adaptor to power the device,
except when you need to use it and external power is not available. However,
higher-consumption devices, such as external optical media burners, and
large hard drives, may work best with external power.
What Is USB 2.0?
USB 1.1 was great when it was introduced almost a decade ago. But
the newer USB 2.0 transfers data dramatically faster - up to 40 times
quicker. Plus, USB 2.0 provides additional bandwidth for multimedia and
storage applications, which are growing larger every year. Also to your
advantage is the fact that USB 2.0 is forward and backward compatible with
USB 1.1, which means that cables and connectors made for the original USB
configuration will also work perfectly in a USB 2.0 port, though some newer
devices are specifically designed for USB 2.0. It is always a good
idea to verify the version of USB supported by each device you want to use.
