Can't get the thing to stay on. It just shuts off for no apparent reason, regardless of what is plugged into it (including nothing) Also does not work with usb drive or any other mass storage device. Waste of money, but not returnable as I understand it. I really hate to have to invest in another one, but with limited usb ports, I'm going to have to do something!

This is a piece of junk. If you want some pretty colored lights on your desktop but have no need for a decent usb hub, buy it. I tried it, hooked up to a new, out of the box $1,200 Dell. I have to disconnect this thing or the computer won't even boot up. Have to unplug and replug it every time I need to use something that is plugged into it. It causes the computer to freeze up frequently, unplug this thing, computer will come back to life as normal... In short,, It's not worth the shipping cost, much less the price it costs and the trouble it causes.

Not bad for $15. The lights are a little crazy, but you get used to them after a while. Plus the power cord is a lot shorter than I thought it would be. But, it does what I need it to.

I got this hub for my PS3, it has worked without any trouble with the PS3 for a few months now. It's not the highest quality hub ever, but good for the price. The crazy flashing disco lights are a little annoying at first....you'll get used to them.

This is the worse piece of crap I've ever bought. 1st time I plugged it up ''There has been a malfunction with the entered USB device'' It never worked for me. I tried it on numerous computers same thing. Unable to take it back ''All Sales are final'' is what I had on the bottom of the reciept. So I threw the piece of junk at the wall...

What Are BUS POWERED USB Devices?
USB was designed to allow many peripherals to be connected using a standard
interface port, and to improve the plug-and-play features of PCs by allowing
these devices to be connected and disconnected without rebooting the
computer! Another convenient feature includes providing power (also known as
Bus Power) to low-consumption devices without the need for an external power
supply. So Bus Powered means the device is powered by the USB Port, and not
an external power adaptor.
Bus Powered devices offer a lot of flexibility, particularly when used on
laptops and other portable devices. However, you need to determine when “bus
power” is best.
When is Bus Power best?
You have a desktop with ample USB ports, or
You have a laptop and you need to take your
Bus Powered devices with you, or
You only use the device intermittently and
want the simplicity of no external power adaptors, or
You want to keep desktop clutter to a
minimum, and want to eliminate power cables.
The best example of a USB Bus Power devices
are: USB Thumb Drives, or Passport style USB Hard Drives.
Rules for best results with Bus Powered
Devices:
Use a good quality USB Cable two feet or
less in length.
Be sure to directly connect the device to
your computer, instead of through a hub or other device - unless the USB
Hub has its own power.
Make sure your laptop battery is fully
charged.
Generally speaking, you do not want many
Bus Power devices connected at once, especially on portable devices or
laptops running on batteries. So consider unplugging unneeded devices if
necessary.
Some devices can be powered both by an external adaptor or by Bus Power. As
a general rule, you should use the external adaptor to power the device,
except when you need to use it and external power is not available. However,
higher-consumption devices, such as external optical media burners, and
large hard drives, may work best with external power.
What Is USB 2.0?
USB 1.1 was great when it was introduced almost a decade ago. But
the newer USB 2.0 transfers data dramatically faster - up to 40 times
quicker. Plus, USB 2.0 provides additional bandwidth for multimedia and
storage applications, which are growing larger every year. Also to your
advantage is the fact that USB 2.0 is forward and backward compatible with
USB 1.1, which means that cables and connectors made for the original USB
configuration will also work perfectly in a USB 2.0 port, though some newer
devices are specifically designed for USB 2.0. It is always a good
idea to verify the version of USB supported by each device you want to use.
