Iogear 4-Port USB 2.0 Wireless Hub with Adapter
Introducing one of the first USB-IF Certified Wireless USB solution, the IOGEAR Wireless USB Hub & Adapter kit (GUWH104Kit). The IOGEAR Wireless USB Hub & Adapter kit allows your desktop or laptop to wirelessly communicate with USB printers, scanners, cameras, game controllers, flash drives, external hard drives, and other USB devices. It complies with the Multi-band OFDM Ultra Wide Band (UWB) 1.0 specification, and provides users with transmission speeds of up to 480Mbps. At 480 Mbps the IOGEAR Wireless USB Hub is faster than all wireless technologies including 802.11n. Because it is Plug-and-Play, the IOGEAR Certified Wireless USB Hub takes almost no time to set up and get running. It is the perfect combination of convenient Plug-and-Play USB connectivity, blazing fast data transfers and the benefits of going wireless.
Cable Freedom
The IOGEAR Wireless USB Kit takes advantage of the UWB radio technology to deliver fast wireless USB communication between your computer and USB peripherals. The IOGEAR Kit wirelessly connects to USB devices up to 30-feet away from your computer. Imagine transferring files to a hard drive across the room! The Wireless USB hub can connect to many other USB devices and offers high-bandwidth video, audio and data transfers. Additionally, the wireless frequency range of UWB helps avoid interference with other wireless devices like mobile phones, Wi-Fi networks, and Bluetooth devices. And because the IOGEAR Wireless USB hub is certified by the USB-IF you know that it will work with any other Certified Wireless USB devices that come to market.

this kit performed asthough it had just been thrown together by both USB and IOGear at the last second. Somethings that weren't told to me was: Does not work with USB Speakers. There is a good notification about not working with Web Cams, which is puzzling. All the problems that you would imagine would come up durring the design of this device were not dealt with. Did not work with a wired hub (for stacking hubs) and didn't work well with devices it was meant to work with. Also, doesn't work with USB Tuner Cards.

I agree with the May 3rd reviewer, this is the worst product I've ever had the displeasure to use. I spent 30 straight hours trying to get it to work (and I followed every direction possible), but it just WOULD NOT WORK with my USB printer. Extreme warning - DO NOT BUY, no matter what the price.

This is the worst product I have ever purchased. Right inside the manual it says that it doesn't have a 30 foot range, it has a 16 foot range. If you are planning on using this, I hope you and your neighbors don't have a wireless network, because the signals interfere. Also, the signal is constantly dropped and won't work well at all with a USB hard drive. Even when it is hard-wire plugged into the computer.

Have had for about 6 weeks and using for a printer. This thing is so annoying. It constantly loses connectivity within the 30ft range and does not automatically reconnect as claimed in manual. The ''dongle'' is too big and gets in the way on a laptop.
What Are BUS POWERED USB Devices?
USB was designed to allow many peripherals to be connected using a standard
interface port, and to improve the plug-and-play features of PCs by allowing
these devices to be connected and disconnected without rebooting the
computer! Another convenient feature includes providing power (also known as
Bus Power) to low-consumption devices without the need for an external power
supply. So Bus Powered means the device is powered by the USB Port, and not
an external power adaptor.
Bus Powered devices offer a lot of flexibility, particularly when used on
laptops and other portable devices. However, you need to determine when “bus
power” is best.
When is Bus Power best?
You have a desktop with ample USB ports, or
You have a laptop and you need to take your
Bus Powered devices with you, or
You only use the device intermittently and
want the simplicity of no external power adaptors, or
You want to keep desktop clutter to a
minimum, and want to eliminate power cables.
The best example of a USB Bus Power devices
are: USB Thumb Drives, or Passport style USB Hard Drives.
Rules for best results with Bus Powered
Devices:
Use a good quality USB Cable two feet or
less in length.
Be sure to directly connect the device to
your computer, instead of through a hub or other device - unless the USB
Hub has its own power.
Make sure your laptop battery is fully
charged.
Generally speaking, you do not want many
Bus Power devices connected at once, especially on portable devices or
laptops running on batteries. So consider unplugging unneeded devices if
necessary.
Some devices can be powered both by an external adaptor or by Bus Power. As
a general rule, you should use the external adaptor to power the device,
except when you need to use it and external power is not available. However,
higher-consumption devices, such as external optical media burners, and
large hard drives, may work best with external power.
