I set up a RAID 0+1. Four identical hard drives. Total capacity 500Gb. I setup the system to copy the contents of a 250Gb hard drive on an IDE bus. Straight forward process. The computer is a Dell 350 work station. A little old but solid. I come back in a while and the computer has locked up. I power down, bring it back up and as the Raid bios is loading I get an error message, ''incomplete raid set''. I look for documentation. What a joke. I call the company 3 times. I send an email. What a joke. I find that one of the hard drives has a problem. That's OK it's a REDUNDANT array. I follow the procedure to remove and replace the drive. It does not work. 14 hours down the drain. WASTE OF TIME & MONEY.

I put 4xWD250 hard drives on this card and setup a Raid 0+1. The hard drive write speed has DECREASED! The read speed has noticeably increased but I got a better overall performance increase by using the built-in software Raid of WinXP over this card. BIG disappointment.

For the price I paid for the card, it isn't a bad card. The only thing that I could find bad about it was that it is incompatible with Novell Netware. That is where I wanted to use it, but oh well. Something else can have fault tolerance.
For a windows operating system, it works good. If you are installing Windows, it is not a unattened install because the drivers aren't digitally signed. It takes over a hour to fully create a RAID set with two Quantum Fireball CR 6.4GB hard drives. So be prepared to take a while creating a RAID set.
for the price of the card, you can't go wrong
