This card is unsatisfactory. I'm fairly knowledgeable with computers, but I could not get this card to work. There is no manual and the included CD is little help. Drivers on manufacturer's website don't work. Spend a couple extra dollars and buy a higher quality product. You'll be happy you did in the end.

Great card for the price. USB works great but don't bet on the firewire. I can't get it to work, but I'm not finished trying yet. Just saying you might want to consider a different card if you don't want problems with firewire.

Bought mine at the local TG store.
This card is NOT Vista Compatible! However, right on the box it states it is Vista compatible.
Wasted a gallon of gas.
Generic Windows drivers downloaded for it but device would not recognize in device mgr.
Tried drivers on the install CD. Wouldn't work either.
Went to Mfg's website, downloaded latest windows drivers, tried to install them and an error message popped up saying the drivers were not compatible with my OS.
Exchanged it for an Ultra ULT40109 8-Port USB 2.0/Firewire Combo PCI Card for $25.
The Ultra card worked perfectly with Vista.

I am a dual booting windows and Ubuntu linux environment user. This product works great and was exactly what I need to stream video from my Canon Z950 camcorder to windows or Linux. This product works great in either OS. Only thing I would have liked to see is less USB ports and more DV ports not to mention a bit longer of a DV cable. Excellent

What Is
FireWire?
FireWire (also known as the IEEE 1394 interface) is a serial bus interface
standard, for high-speed communications and isochronous real-time data
transfer, used on PCs & MACs , with storage devices, and with digital audio
and digital video devices. The interface is also known by the brand names of
FireWire (Apple's name) and i.LINK (Sony's name).
FireWire has replaced SCSI in many applications, due to lower costs and a
simplified, more adaptable cabling system. IEEE 1394 has been adopted as the
High Definition Audio-Video Network Alliance (HANA) standard connection
interface for A/V (audio/visual) component communication and control.
FireWire is also available in wireless, fiber optic, and coaxial versions.
Almost all modern digital camcorders have included this connection since
1995, as do the vast majority of high end professional audio interfaces.
Since 2003 many computers intended for home or professional audio/video use
have built-in FireWire/i.LINK ports, even some iPods. It is also available
on many motherboards. FireWire has also become a dominant local
storage interface, for use with external storage devices, such as external
hard drives..
12 Easy Steps to Installing a PCI Adapter
Card
The simple task of installing a PCI adapter card into a desktop computer
takes only a few minutes. All you need to complete the job is our handy
step-by-step, photo-illustrated guide and a Philips screwdriver. Please
note that there are many PCI adapters that can be installed in your computer
system. Therefore, this brief guide only covers the physical installation
of the card itself. To install peripheral attachments you will need to consult
the installation directions that come with the adapter card.
What Is USB 2.0?
USB 1.1 was great when it was introduced almost a decade ago. But
the newer USB 2.0 transfers data dramatically faster - up to 40 times
quicker. Plus, USB 2.0 provides additional bandwidth for multimedia and
storage applications, which are growing larger every year. Also to your
advantage is the fact that USB 2.0 is forward and backward compatible with
USB 1.1, which means that cables and connectors made for the original USB
configuration will also work perfectly in a USB 2.0 port, though some newer
devices are specifically designed for USB 2.0. It is always a good
idea to verify the version of USB supported by each device you want to use.
