i have had this drive for 5 monthes or so, great price ! only problem is after all this time , when i open the drive, the cd/dvd acts like it is still spinning and wedges so it wont open all the way. i havent had to ''force'' it YET but i do gotta pull the cd out while its half open and jammed. o'well it still works fine, and only does that half of the time so i guess its worth the money

It worked great for 3 days. Now it does not even spin up. Won't read any DVD's or CD's. HP usually makes better products than this. Guess I got I got lucky and got the model that works for 3 days.

This drive works great! I bought it to replace my SONY DRU-720A that crapped out after 3 years - it was creating empty burn rings on the DVD discs. The HP drive was a little noisy when I first used it, but it has quieted down after some use. Burns fast and works well with Nero 7 and InterVideo applications.

The unit it's self is nice and runs well so far.
The nero 7 on the other hand KEEP IT!
After installing the software It wanted you to buy upgrades, The sound wouldn't come through from its player, and it seemed like nero wanted to take over my computer.
HP Nice, Nero Bad !

A great drive for a great price, there's nothing to complain about because it works beautifully. Doesn't come with a full-featured dvd decoding software like intervideo winDVD, so if you have XP then hopefully you already have something like that installed to play DVDs. Burns nice and quick, hooks up with IDE and has no extra features.
