HiRO V.92 56K External USB Data Fax Voice Modem
HiRO H50113 External USB modem provides an easy way to link you to the world. It incorporated the V.92 standard, so your PC can establish a connection faster, and the connection can be up to 56K speed. Modem-on-hold feature allows you to answer a phone call during an internet connection, then resume after the call is finished without killing the connection. The bundled Fax Talk Communicator application allows you to use your PC as an answer / voicemail box as well as a fax machine. Installing this modem is an easy process; with the external design & USB interface, all you need do to is to connect the USB and phone cable, without even opening up your PC. | I dont know what my problem was but i think this thing is a piece of crap, every time i turn on my computer it does no recognize it and i have to unplug it, and plug it into a diffrent usb port. It says that it is running faster than my old modem but it isnt, all it does is dial faster and say its faster but its not, its still running the same. Dont buy this, look around more. |

| I purchased this modem on suggestion from phonetray dialup, which is a MOH application, this modem has not worked well for me AT ALL, I use windows vista on a top of the line dell xps system. This modem will not connect half of the time. The other half of the time it will disconnect itself for no reason at all. I would not purchase this modem; I would look for another option if I had it to do over again. |

| I bought this modem based on the fact it works with Windows XP 64 bit and that it's an external USB modem. Unlike other USB modems that claim to work with XP 64 bit, and don't, this one does.
Over the past month I have found that my connection speed is around 33.6Kbps, or 4.2KB/s. Previously my connection speed was around 28.8Kbps at best.
The modem however, consistently reports the connection as ''41.2Kbps''.
I suspect some reviews here may be based on that inaccurate report by the modem. |

| Some of my hardware got zapped by lightning, so I needed an external model. I called TigerDirect and they assured me it would work on my 32 bit system. Super easy install and worked perfectly with my Dell Vostro 400 running Windows XP Home (32 bit). My only comment--the blue LED's for power & activity are VERY bright, but no big deal since it is under my desk and out of sight. Great price too! |

| This is a great price for an external USB 2.0 modem. I have tested it with XP Pro 32 bit version and XP home 32 bit and both operating systems worked.
One of my PCs does not have a dial up modem and this was perfect. Just plug and play and if you want voice, install the fax software it comes with and you will get voice to work on the modem.
Highly recommend this modem!
It works perfectly with the Phone Tray software to screen callers and ZAP callers on a landline. |
