Linksys Wireless PTZ Internet Camera with Audio
The Linksys Wireless-G Pan/Tilt/Zoom Video Camera sends live video through the Internet to
a web browser anywhere in the world!
The advanced MPEG-4 video compression produces a high-quality, high-framerate, up to
640x480 video stream. MPEG-4 encoding facilitates good video quality in varying bandwidth
environments. WVC200 also supports MJPEG compression for video, providing good video
quality at high bandwidth rates.
The comprehensive video features include an IR filter cut which allow you to see the images in
low or no light environments when an IR lamp is used. Snapshots (in JPEG format) of the
image can be taken and saved.Snapshots can also be scheduled and sent to an FTP server.
If you want the video to be visible from a remote location or from the Internet, you can open
an appropriate port on the Router, and then create password protected accounts to manage
access to the camera, or leave it wide open for the world to see. Support for Dynamic DNS lets
you access your camera using an easy-to-remember “name”, even while using a dynamic IP
address. The Pan/Tilt and digital zoom function allows you to remotely control the camera
movement and focus, giving you maximum flexibility remotely. Up to 10 simultaneous users can
have access to the camera at any point in time. Software is included for multiple camera
monitoring and recording to your hard drive with advanced search by time and date. Recording
can be set up to record by motion trigger, manual or schedule recording and playback on
Windows Media Player without the need for a proprietary player.
You can also turn on Security Mode, which tells the camera to send a message with a short video
attached to up to three email addresses whenever it detects motion in its field of view. You can
then log onto the live video stream if the situation warrants. Wireless security features include
WEP and WPA.

Getting in touch with your loved ones has never been this hip and easy with the Linksys WVC200 Wireless PTZ internet camera. It is built with a 1/5-inch CMOS sensor. Designed with MPEG-4 video compression, it sends high quality, high frame-rate videos. Its MPEG-4 encoding allows for good video quality in varying bandwidth environments. It is developed with pan, tilt and zoom functions so you don't have to adjust your position to send a good video. Maximizing flexibility, it allows up to 10 users to access the camera at any point in time. The web camera gives you wireless security features, too, as it is equipped WEP and WPA, both designed to give you the level of security and privacy comparable to what is usually expected of a wired LAN. You can adjust video resolutions and the frame rate is up to 30fps.
The web camera has an IR filter cut that sends images in low or no light environments. You can also use the camera to take snapshots in JPEG format and save it or send it to an FTP server. It is equipped with a program for multiple camera monitoring and recording to your hard drive with advanced search by time and date.
The web camera can also be set to record by motion trigger, manual or schedule recording and playback on Windows Media Player without the help of a proprietary player. Its security mode tells the web camera to send a message with a short video attached to up to three email addresses whenever it detects motion in its field of view. You can then log onto the live video stream.
The Linksys WVC200 supports TCP/IP, HTTP, DHCP, SMTP, FTP, NTP, DNS, UPnP and DDNS protocols, all designed to help give you fuss-free operation. It even comes with Web UI for easy browser-based configuration.
The 1lb web camera has Ethernet, antenna and microphone ports. It complies with FCC, CE and UL standards.
Just picked up two of these yesterday. They were very easy to setup, although you do have to hardwire it to your router to let it get assigned an IP address, then you just change it to a fixed IP. Once it has an address you can login from your browser ( IE only) to configure the wireless. Works best with WEP encryption. So far so good on the remote monitoring through the dyndns service. Great product overall.

Had read some negative reviews about this camera. I thought I would give it a shot anyway. Should of listened to the reviews. Got it on the 11th of April, Worked with Linksys to try and correct some problems on the 12th. They informed me the camera was bad. Boxed it back up on the 13th for return. I strongly suggest not purchasing this product.

I was skeptical about this after reading mixed reviews acroos the net. Put 1 into a customer's location and so far have been really impressed. It is a smaller office, so its perfect. I have installed other IP cams ranging from $250 up to 1200. With the higher end IP's, you have to buy recording software. Linksys includes it! Big bonus! That stuff is not cheap! So I was going to put in a Axis IP PTZ cam for another wider, longer area at there shop, but instead I just bought two more of the PTZ Linksys. The savings on the software alone will pay for itself! 1 Axis would cover the area fine, but figure in the software and your at 1000+. I can buy two of these for 500 and cover the same area! Think about it.... :)
As for the setup, yes...complex. But, Linksys support is A+. Very good. And as always, Tiger A+.

There is a 1 to 2 second delay before you hear the audio even with the current firmware (7-26-07) when I wrote this. Changing the video rate and codec did not solve it. Horrible instructions to setup the security software although it did work once configured. You must run the CD Wizard before you can even use this camera. You can't simply login to the camera to configure it. Internet Explorer only thanks to Active X controls. Sorry Mac and Linux. Very disappointed. Would have been nice if the dude in the Tiger video for this product mentioned the a/v sync issue.
