Once Again, the Basement's Dry - For how Long, I don't know.
Out here on the edge of the prairie (amidst the Great Corn Desert), the land is as flat as the proverbial pancake - so flat it makes Kansas look like the Rockies. Combine the flat topography - meaning that rainwater runs off at the leisurely pace of a...

Pros:
not terribly loud, pretty efficient, side air discharge
Cons:
undersized water reservoir
Bottom Line:
If the Whirlpool AD70USS 70-pint outlasts the competition, I'll be pleasantly surprised. They should pack a little guy with it to empty the bucket every five hours, though...

Top end Whirlpool dehumidifier
We had a wet 800 sq foot basement from dripping water falling from overhead air conditioning ducts. The condensation dripped on the floor forming puddles and was slowly destroying our furnace by causing rust to form inside of it. I did not believe our...

Pros:
It works very well and the automatic feature is accurate yet also adjustable.
Cons:
Fan is loud. But then it's the basement and we don't care.
Bottom Line:
I suggest buying this unit we went for the more expensive model and are glad we did. The size is right as it can require emptying 4 times a day.

Keeps it dry
Bought this dehumidifier last year to replace one that only lasted one year before the compressor went out. We live in a slab home and have a major humidity problem year round since there is no basement beneath us for air to flow through. We have to...

Pros:
Easy to empty, really reduces moisture
Cons:
No audible bucket full signal
Bottom Line:
The moisture sensor works and and allows good humidity reduction with less energy expended.

works well, almost too well
Had to replace the 20 year old dinosaur of a humidifier, so I found this on ebay for about $50. It has a nice design as far as dehumidifiers go, and it runs very well. The best features on it are the light that alerts when the water retainer is...

Pros:
works great, settings are sensitive
Cons:
little noisy but not irritating, can fill up fast in the summer
Bottom Line:
Overall Id rate it an 8 out of 10 and if you can find it as cheap as I did, its definitely worth considering.

Loud unit, lots of vibration
This is a loud unit with lots of vibration. My unit also developed a high-pitched whine after a few days of use and it was returned to the store. Although I had read similar reviews before purchasing, I hoped that Whirlpool had fixed the issues. They...

Pros:
Dehumidifies
Cons:
Loud and lots of vibration

Noisy and Not Durable
We used this unit in our basement, and although it looked nice in store, it was annoyingly noisy when we turned it on. It was on constantly for 6 months and then just stopped working. Find something...

Pros:
70 pints
Cons:
Noisy
Not durable

Broke Already
I didn't even get to turn this thing on. Right out of the box, the caster wheel was broke. With all the other negative comments, I'm returning and getting either Friedrich or...

Pros:
None
Cons:
Broken caster wheel right out of box.

NOISY and SMELLY
Too noisy to use in the house--might be good for the basement. Even at the other end of the house the noise level is quite bothersome. It also emits a ghastly chemical odor when on that permeates the entire house. I do not recommend this...

Pros:
Available at stores
Cons:
Too noisy and smelly to use

Whirlpool AD70USS1
Had a problem with my 3 1/2 year old noisy Whirlpool AD40DSL3 and reviewed all the reviews on other brands. They are all noisy. My Whirlpool gave me 3 1/2 years of good service so I purchased the new model AD70USS1. This newer model is not as noisy as...

Pros:
Newer models are quieter. Company customer friendly.
Cons:
All dehumidifiers are noisy and more so than we want them to be.

Does the Job But Noisy
This unit works great at removing moisture from our basement but don't expect to watch T.V. or listen to music while it is running. We have to empty the catch basin on a regular basis and we notice the basement is drier. If you need to remove water...

Pros:
Efficient removal of moisture. Control panel. Easy removal of water basin.
Cons:
Noise.
